When considering the design of an IAS for a commercial property the design of the system should be consistent with the risk of an attack on the supervised (protected) premises. The level of risk will depend, among other issues, on the type of contents.

Part A: Goods

1. Type and value of contents
Type of goods Attractiveness to thief Cost of loss Comments
Target goods
(cigarettes, clothing, electrical goods, jewellery, sports equipment, wines & spirits, computers, electronic equipment, tools)

@if (!empty($commercial)) {{$commercial->target_goods_cost_loss}} @endif @if (!empty($commercial)) {{$commercial->target_goods_comment}} @endif
Thief attractive goods
(items that are likely, based on common experience and/or the loss history at the premises, to prove attractive to thieves)

2. Theft history

Date of previous incident Methods used in previous attacks Details of items stolen

Second attack:
Third attack:

3. Damage

Potential damage Low risk Average risk High risk Comments

4. Theft of vital office equipment

Theft of computers @if (!empty($commercial)) {{$commercial->theft_of_computers_comments}} @endif
Consequential loss of information on computers etc @if (!empty($commercial)) {{$commercial->consequential_computers_comments}} @endif

Part B: Building

When considering the element of risk in the design of an IAS, the structure of the premises to be supervised (protected) will be a major determining factor. Issues which should be considered are included below:

1. Construction

Construction Materials Comments
Walls, roof, floor, basement
Outbuildings (if used to contain target/ attractive items)
Other (any significant building construction that might influence the design of the IAS)

2. Openings

Openings in the shell of the building that could facilitate unauthorised entry Low risk Average risk High risk Comments
Include any areas of concern, eg windows and doors, roof lights, ventilation ducts, etc @if (!empty($commercial)) {{$commercial->openings_comments}} @endif

3. Occupancy

Low risk Average risk High risk Comments
What are the hours of occupancy? @if (!empty($commercial)) {{$commercial->occupancy_comments}} @endif

4. Locality

Risk posed by: Low risk Average risk High risk Comments
Supervised premises being located in a high crime risk area @if (!empty($commercial)) {{$commercial->locality_supervised_comments}} @endif
The speed and quality of response to the IAS @if (!empty($commercial)) {{$commercial->locality_supervised_speed_comments}} @endif

5. Existing security
